How is Amazon Currency Converter more convenient for me? Amazon Currency Converter makes purchasing at Amazon.co.uk convenient in many ways, including:
- Your payment total will automatically be displayed in your local currency on the final checkout page, so you don't have to use another resource to calculate the payment total in your local currency.
- Paying in your local currency does not involve any foreign exchange conversion by your bank or credit card issuer, so you don't have to wait for your bank or credit card statement to know your payment total in your local currency. In some cases your bank may still charge you a fee.
- We "lock in" your exchange rate, so if you're entitled to a refund, you'll get the exchange rate used for your original payment.
Back to top Will buying from Amazon.co.uk using my local currency make my purchase less expensive? When you pay in Pound Sterling
(GBP) with a card issued in a different currency (for example, a Euro-based
card), your bank later converts the GBP amount to your local currency. So, it's
only when you get your bank or credit card statement that you see the total
amount you paid in your local currency.
In addition to the exchange rate, you may see other charges and fees
that increase the amount you actually paid. In some cases your bank may still charge you a fee.
With Amazon Currency Converter, your payment total
will be displayed in your local currency on the final checkout page, so you
know how much you are paying before you pay. You might also pay less in your
local currency using Amazon Currency Converter than if you used your bank or
credit card to make the purchase in Pound Sterling (GBP), as we try to ensure
that we receive a competitive exchange rate from our bank service provider for
Amazon Currency Converter to display the payment total in your local currency.
Of course, you will always have the choice to pay in GBP, if you are happy
to wait and see what you are charged on your bank or credit card statement. Back to top Does buying in my local currency cost me anything? Are there any additional fees? You can view the applicable exchange rate used to
display your payment total, by clicking the "View Exchange Rate"
button on the final checkout page. The applicable exchange rate includes all
Amazon fees and charges related to your use of Amazon Currency Converter. Amazon will not charge you additional fees or charges. The payment total you see during checkout will be
the amount reflected on your bank or credit card statement. In some cases your bank may still charge you a fee.
